Why
couldn't you have stayed with me?
It was so unfair.
I never got to know you, now Dad is going away too.
I don't know how to handle it, Mom.
I love him so much.
He is all I know, how will I get along without him?"
Then Sarah reached out and touched his shoulder and said, "I'm
here, Justin.
I have cared for you since you were born and that will never
change."
He turned to Sarah and said, "Is he gone?"
As she hugged him close, she said, "About five minutes ago.
It was peaceful, he didn't suffer and that's good."
Justin said, "Yes that is good."
"He is still in the room if you would like to go in once more.
Mike and Susie and John are there waiting for us, we can have a family
moment before they take him."
Justin answered his sister, "Okay, lets go then." As they
started out, he turned and said, "Thanks for the talk, Mom." He
ran his hand across the bed and down the hall they went.
When
they got back to Bill's room, the nurse had taken all the equipment off
and cleaned him up.
They all gathered around the bed where his lifeless body lay.
They held hands and Sarah led them in prayer.
She started by saying, "Dear Heavenly Father, we come to you
today with broken hearts, as we say goodbye to our earthly father.
We commend him into your loving hands, Lord.
As he makes his way to heaven, Lord we ask you to guide us through
this painful time.
Send your angels to be with us as we go through these days of
sorrow.
In Jesus mighty name we pray, Amen. Then she said, "We love
you Dad, to the moon and back, forever and always."
They gathered up their courage and did the hardest thing they'd
ever had to do. They walked away, knowing the Kendell family would never
be the same.
Sarah turned and blew him a kiss and said, "Rest now Dad,
We'll see you again in heaven one day.
The
end.
