Chapter 2        Page 2

Daniel proposes

Margo headed for the kitchen. She put the roast that Joanne had left out, along with some potatoes, carrots and onions in the roast pan then put it in the oven. Next she headed upstairs  to her parents’ bedroom. She found the red dress her mom had told her about she laid it across the bed, along with a pair of panty hose. Then grabbed the heels and set them on the floor in front of the dress. She thought to herself this is going to be a wonderful evening. And this will be the first time I have ever cooked for Daniel, I hope he likes it.  She went to her room and changed into the new dress she had just bought yesterday, for today’s dinner. It was gold; the front was low cut,  with a layered skirt. She bought a black pair of heels, with gold tassels on the top to go with it. She pulled her long blonde hair back with a braid on each side, held in the back with a gold clip. Then she headed back downstairs to check on the roast. Everything was right on time, the roast still had about another 45 minutes. so she grabbed an apron out of the drawer, and put it on, and she didn't want to get her new dress messed up. Then she took out the fixing to make the salad.

A little while later she heard her dad's pickup pull into the driveway. as he came in the door he called out, hey where is everyone at. Margo said, in the kitchen dad. Bob walked in and said, well, if it isn't Susie homemaker, then he laughed and he kissed her on the cheek. Margo laughed and said, very funny dad, he said I was just kidding baby girl. You look really nice  and dinner smells great. Thanks said Margo, now go get cleaned up. Mom will be home shortly she was running late. Daniel and his parents will be here anytime. Ok, he said, I’m going, chill out will you, it's only dinner. And up the stairs he went.

About ten minutes later Joanne came in the back door and into the kitchen. Something sure smells good  she said. Oh hi mom, said Margo, I didn't hear you come in. dad's upstairs getting ready. I’ve got this under control, your clothes are laid out,  go ahead and get ready the Rodgers will be here anytime now. Ok I’m going said Joanne, relax Margo it's just dinner. I know mom I’m sorry, I guess you are right I am a little nervous. It’s just that Daniel has been acting a little strange all week, and i can't figure out why. I’m sure it’s nothing, said Joanne, don't  worry honey. I know, you're probably right mom, I am just a worry wart, and then she laughed and said, now go get ready. I’m going said Joanne, and she headed upstairs.
