Mom
we’re here said Margo, as she closed the front door. We are in
the living room honey, come on in. Margo and misty walked into
the room .there sat Joanne, Bob and some man that Margo didn’t
recognize. Joanne stood up and Margo could tell she had been
crying. She said, Margo
this is
Dr. Roberts, he is grandma Mary’s doctor, he flew in from
Georgia, to talk to me about mom. Why, said Margo what is wrong
with grandma?
She’s not dead is she, and tears fill her eyes? Joanne took
her hand and said, Oh lord no, she’s not dead honey, I’m
sorry if I scared you. Then what is wrong said Margo. Here have
a seat, you too misty, and I didn’t mean to ignore you. Oh
that’s ok Mrs. White, I understand, said misty. so the girls
sat down and Joanne started talking.
she said. Margo, you know every since daddy died last year
mom has been so lonely. I know she has been lonely mom, that’s
why I try to visit more. Joanne said, I know you do Margo, but
magnolia lane is so huge. It’s too much for mom to handle. And
her memories of daddy and their life there and memories of her
parents, they fill that place and she becomes to over whelmed by
all of it. After all she is 82 years old honey. Dr. Roberts saw
her last week, she had a mild stroke. so he admitted her into
the hospital. He is very worried about releasing her. He
doesn’t think she should be alone in that big house. so we
were just talking about closing up magnolia lane, and putting
mom in a nursing home.
