Goodbye to Grandma Mary

 

After Margo and Daniel left ,Joanne walked over to her mom's bed and sat down in the chair beside it. She took Mary's hand in her's and said hi mama, it's me, Joanne. I hope you can hear me , Dr. Roberts says he believes you can. So I want you to know mama, I love you so very much ,you have always been there for me, you have always been my inspiration . I know you have missed daddy, And I am sure he is lost without you. So mama ,it's ok if you want to go be with daddy. We all love you, so much, but we'll be fine, so don't worry about us. And Margo will make sure your beloved magnolia lane ,will be the greatest bed and breakfast in all of Georgia, just like you wanted. It to be. Then she leaned over and kissed Mary's cheek ,and as she sat back in the chair, she saw a tear roll down her mother's face, and a faint smile crossed her lips, and she softly whispered, Sam ! Even before the machine went off, Joanne knew she was gone. The nurse ran into the room ,but Joanne said, she's gone, she has a DNR please, let me just have some time alone with her. And will you turn off those machines before you go. The nurse said, sure Mrs. white and we are so sorry for your loss.

After she had left the room, Joanne sat beside her mother still holing her hand, the shock had finally hit her. She laid her head down on the bed and cried, she was so over come by grief, that she never even heard Bob come up behind her. He put his arms on her shoulders and and said ,I'm here babe. I am so sorry Joanne, I wish I could have been here with you. she stood up and said, it's ok Bob, you're here now. Then he wrapped his arms around her, and she cried for what seemed like forever to her. Then she kissed his cheek and said ,I'm ok Bob, but I am so glad you are here. Did you see Margo yet, do they know what's wrong with her? What do you mean he said ,I thought she was with you. Oh I am so sorry Bob, I thought you knew, she was having terrible pains, so they took her down for some test. She doesn't know mom is gone, I need to go tell her. Well  then lets go do that, said Bob. So they walked out to the hallway, Joanne spoke with the nurse and said, will you please take the machines off my mother, and clean her up, so the family can come say their goodbye's. We sure will Mrs. White you take your time .Then she and Bob walked down to Margo's room.
