Then the phone rang, it was Bill.
She tried to stay calm but he could hear the terror in her voice.
She said, “Please come home
Bill, and hurry. He
told her he had already booked a flight and would be there in about two
hours. Then he said, “Susie
try not to worry, Sarah needs you to be strong.
Now lets pray.” And
they did, all the way to the hospital.
He told her he loved her and would be there soon.
The ambulance pulled into the emergency room entrance and Susie
pulled in right behind them.
Dr. Matthews met Susie at the emergency room and said, “Lets get
her settled in a room, then we’ll talk."
Susie stayed by Sarah’s side and tried not to let her emotions
show, so Sarah wouldn’t be afraid. After
the nurses went out of the room, Susie sat down beside Sarah and rubbed
her head and held her little hand. The
medicine they gave her settled her down and she slept.
Susie stayed by her side and prayed and prayed.
Dr. Matthews came in and sat with Susie.
He said, “We’ll run the usual heart test and see what’s going
on, but I have to warn you, it doesn’t look good.
This is the third time, and each time her heart weakens more and
more, but she is a fighter, that is one tough, brave little girl you have
there." Susie tried to
smile and said, “Thanks, I know she is.
I just pray that she has the strength to keep fighting.”
Bill walked into Sarah’s room, he said, “She does, Susie, and
God is watching over her.” Susie
stood up and walked over to Bill and said, “I'm so glad you're here, I
couldn’t go through this alone.” “You
don’t have to honey,” Bill said. He
held her as she cried, she looked into his eyes and said, “What
if…..” Bill answered,
“Don’t even think that way, Susie.
We have to stay positive for Sarah’s sake.”
Susie said, “I’ll try Bill, I’ll really try.”
