Chapter 3 Page 10

Life Without Susie
(Eight Years Later)

After she hung up the phone, Sarah said to herself, 'could Dad actually be dating?' Then she thought, 'No, there is no way. He still misses Mom so much.' That brought tears to her eyes. She slid down in the chair and thought about her mom. She looked up, as tears rolled down her face and said, "Mom I miss you so much, how I wish you could be here to see me today. It seems like a lifetime since you went away." Then she was overcome with grief and laid her head down and sobbed uncontrollably. Suddenly she felt a cool breeze blow her hair, it felt almost like someone ran their hand through her hair softly, then she heard a soft voice whisper her name, the voice said, "Don't cry baby girl, don't cry." Sarah looked up through her tear filled eyes and there stood Susie, a bright light shone around her, she looked so beautiful. She had on a flowing white gown. Just like the one she had seen Angel Doris wearing.

Sarah rubbed her eyes, she couldn't believe what she was seeing. This couldn't be real, could it? About that time Susie held her arms out and said, "It's okay baby, it's really me." Sarah ran into her arms and held her mom so close, not wanting to let her go. Susie rubbed Sarah's head and held her tight. She whispered, "I love you baby girl, to the moon and back, forever and always honey, forever and always." Then Sarah heard a noise, it was Justin, shaking her and yelling, "Sarah, Sarah, wake up." Sarah looked around and said, "Where is Mom?" Justin said, "Sarah, you were dreaming. I heard you as I walked past your room. You were sobbing and calling out for Mom. Are you okay?" Sarah stood up and looked around, not wanting to scare Justin any more than he was, then she said, "I'm fine, I promise.

She looked at the clock and said, "Oh my goodness, Justin, it's already four thirty and I'm going to be late for my own party." Justin giggled and said, "You got two and a half hours, sis, Just chill." Then he laughed. "Okay silly," she said. "Now get out of here and let me get ready." He laughed again as he ran off to play. After he left, Sarah thought, 'I must have been dreaming but it felt real, but it had to be a dream, there is no way my mom could have been here, although that would of been nice, anyway, I need to get busy if I'm going to be on time for my party.' She grabbed her robe and headed for the shower.
