I
didn't mean to make you sad."
It's not that," she said, "I just wish I had the sort of
memories you have of your mom, but I'm glad you do and I love you
Sis." The three of them stood in the middle of room 206 and hugged
each other.
In
a few minutes Sarah said, "We'd better get to the chapel and then
back and check on Dad."
The other two agreed and followed her to the chapel.
At the altar, Sarah started praying, "Dear Heavenly Father, we
come to you today to pray for our dad, we know that only you can help him,
Lord.
He has believed in you, loved you and served you his entire life.
Now he needs a healing touch from you and the strength to go on, as
only You can give Lord.
We ask You to give us more time with him, but Lord, we don't want
him to suffer needlessly, so if it be Your will to take him home with you,
please don't let him suffer.
But Lord, I believe he still has a lot of work yet to do and a lot
more souls to guide to you.
We will leave him in your mighty hands, Lord and if it be Your will
to take him home, we ask you to minister to our hearts and give us the
strength to let him go. We give you all the honor and glory and it's in
Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen."
They
all headed back to Bill's room. The
walk back was very quiet. When
they arrived, Bill tried to smile and say something, but the tube they had
down his throat made it impossible to speak.
It was making him upset, the nurse came in then and said she would
remove it soon and he nodded okay. He
seemed to calm down some then. The girls told him all about the grandkids
and how he needed to get his strength back so he could play with them
again. His eyes just shown, he
loved those little ones so much. Justin
told him he had met a girl at school and he said, "I think she could
be the one, Dad." Bill gave him the thumbs up sigh and Justin
laughed.
